Drive Safe

Driving is dangerous. Each year there are more than 6 million crashes in the United States resulting in over 2 million injuries. “Statistics show that getting behind the wheel of a car is probably the riskiest thing any of us do on any given day.” – Russ Rader of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

At Simpler Studios we use data in an innovative way to make driving safer. Crashes aren’t random, they occur in patterns. The majority of crashes happen in the same places and for the same reasons that other crashes have already occurred.

We’ve analyzed more than 50 million police accident reports representing 10 years of crashes across the US. WatchOut is the first product that shows you the driving hazards that repeatedly cause crashes.

See hazard details

Get detailed information on each hazard. Learn the times of day that are most dangerous. See whether crashes are trending up over time. Experience an animated 3D aerial view of the location.

Get alerts while driving

Start “Driving Mode” to get real-time alerts for active hazards as you approach them. A hazard is considered active if current conditions such as traffic, weather, and time are similar to when most crashes occur. Start driving mode before launching your preferred navigation app to get WatchOut’s hazard alerts in the background.

Avoid crashes caused by traffic

Rear-end collisions caused by unexpectedly slowing traffic are the most common type of preventable crash, however not all slowing traffic leads to collisions. WatchOut uses live traffic data together with crash hazard analysis to warn you where rear-end collisions are most likely. WatchOut uses live traffic data to help you avoid other common collisions such as those caused by merging and turning vehicles.

Be prepared for bad weather

See where weather causes crashes. A sharp curve may be dangerous in the snow. Slowing traffic may lead to collisions in fog. Weather icons on hazards indicate where weather conditions such as snow, rain, and fog cause crashes. Driving mode uses live weather data to provide real-time weather specific alerts.
